Folklore:
It is varied, prevailing colonial-period inherited dances, being some of them date from A.D and B.C periods.
There are 30 dances approximately. Between them we have: “Siete Caballeros”, “Doce pares de Francia” “Los Reyes Magos”, “Las Pastorcitas”, “El Capataz” and others.

It is situated in the northern coast of Peru, 54 Km from the city of Piura.
It is bordered on the north by la Union, on the south by Lambayeque, on the east by Morrope, and on the west by Pacific Ocean.

The lowest area: There are many are at 2m. above sea level. The highest area is “Punta aguja” which is at 23 m above sea level. The weather is hot and dry.

ACCESS ROUTES
From Piura, going along Northen Panamerican it is possible to arrive at Sullana. From Sullana to Paimas, the road is asphalted until half this route, where a bedroad route begins and then comes a road to Ayabaca through which cars can pass along.

BRIEF HISTORICAL DESCRIPTION
The space of Sechura was settled more than 7000 years ago, becoming an ethnic nation around the year 400 B.C. and having his own ideology and language: “The SEC”.
Sechura suffers the Chimus’ expansionist aggression and later the Incas’
From 1535 onwards it faces up the Spanish conquest, but in spite of it Sechura people became revitalized and survived.
In 1572 the San Martin of Sechura town(Old Sechura) was founded and became a place where people and commerce pass through.
In 1728 when Sechura was destroyed by the river and a tidal wave, the inhabitants moved to the present place.
In 1825 it’s raised to the category of Village and by law 26290 in December 23rd, 1993 the province of sechura was created.

MAIN TOURIST ATRACTIONS OF THE CITY
San Martin of tours Church
It is an architectural jewel that dates from the colonial period, it’s construction took 30 years and was blessed by the Archbishop of Lima illustrious Dr. Pedro José Barroeta in May the 30th, 1778.
Under the Church it exists a tunnel network

ETHNOLOGICAL MUSEUM
Of modern substructure, it is placed in “Sagrado Corazon de Jesus” Monastery of Benedictine mothers.
Many cultural objects are exhibited which are related with history, archeology, costumes and religion from prehistory till present.

SURROUNDINGS OF SECHURA
MANGROVE SWAMPS OF SECHURA
Located 10 Km from Sechura on the northit owns a very impressive ecosystem and with a life zone constituted by the water mirror, the gramadal mangrove, small isles, muddy areas where a great diversity of species can be found. It does for camping.

SECHURA DESERT
Desert zone of approximately 127,550 has. Where the impressive, it owns a very impressive “White Sandbank” “Julian I” and “Julian II” sandbanks stand out. They are situated on the east of Sechura. It is a suitable place for sand skiing, motocross, long walk, etc.

VIRRILA ESTUARY
It is unique in it’s class in the whole country, situated 40 km on the south of sechura. It’s approximately 25 Km. Flamingos, pelicans and seagulls’ natural habitat. Special place for long walking, motocross , go sailing, etc.

YERBA BLANCA
Oasis in the middle of the desert, it abounds flamingos, it does for camping, motocross and other sports SAN RAMON SALT MINE
It is a salt bed of approximately 630 Km located 50 Km on the north of Bayovar.

BEACHES
They have narrow surface, quiet waters, fine and clear sand outstanding the beaches: Matacaballo, Constante, Parachique, Delicias, Chuquiyachi which are important fishing zones.

ILLESCAS CIRCUIT
It is a group of virgin beaches, located in the zone of illescas such as: Punta Shode, Las Loberas, Nunura, Avic, Reventazon, and others. It is possible to see different kind of animals such as seals, Humboldt pinguis. Underwater fishing and diving can be performance.

SAN RAMON AND ÑAPIQUE LAGOONS
Water mirror with an area of 16 km, it is a natural reserve of Piura river. Fishing, camping and nautical competitions can be performed.
